Suitable from birth, the drops are added to a baby's milk rather than given directly and can be used at each feed when required. Overview Milk, breast milk and standard infant formulas naturally contain lactose, a disaccharide sugar. Lactase is the enzyme needed to break lactose down into glucose and galactose so these simpler sugars can be absorbed during normal digestion. During the first few months of life, some babies may temporarily have difficulty fully digesting the lactose in their feeds. Colief Infant Drops provide lactase enzyme directly to the milk before feeding, reducing its lactose content.
