Why the cheapest price isn't always the cheapest: delivery explained
Most price comparison sites sort by the shelf price. But you pay the shelf price plus delivery, and delivery charges and free-delivery thresholds differ a lot between Irish pharmacies.
The same basket, different shops
Using each shop's published delivery terms (shops that don't publish a fee are left out), here is what the delivery part alone does to a basket of the same value:
| Basket | Cheapest to your door | Dearest to your door | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| €12 | €16.95 (Lookfantastic) | €19.50 (Cult Beauty) | €2.55 |
| €30 | €34.95 (Lookfantastic) | €37.50 (Cult Beauty) | €2.55 |
| €45 | €45 (Boots) | €52.50 (Cult Beauty) | €7.50 |
Delivery only: item prices also differ between shops, which is what Clarelune compares.
A simple example
A €9.99 cream from a shop charging €7.50 delivery costs you €17.49. The same cream at €13 from a shop with free delivery costs €13. The 'cheaper' cream is €4.49 dearer once it reaches your door.
How Clarelune helps
Every Clarelune price is the price to your door, with each shop's delivery charge and free-delivery threshold already counted, sorted cheapest first. Buying several things? The basket planner works out the cheapest way to buy them all, counting each shop's delivery once.
Shops change delivery terms often; always confirm at checkout. Spotted a change? Email hello@clarelune.com.
